Chapter VI of VIII · Home Inventory
Remember what was installed and where it belongs
Photos, product numbers, and room locations for the finishes, fixtures, and materials that make the home what it is.
The homeowner problem
The exact tile that matches the guest bathroom floor. The extra can of the paint color used in the hallway. The dimensions of a window that needs new blinds. Homeowners replace and repair things constantly, and every time, they’re reconstructing details that were only ever in one person’s head, usually whoever did the original work, and they’ve long since moved on.
What Home Handoff remembers
Home Inventory catalogs what’s actually in the home: appliances, fixtures, finishes, furniture, replacement materials, paint colors, flooring, tile, lighting, and spare parts. For each item:
- Photos
- Purchase dates
- Receipts
- Product numbers
- Dimensions
- Room locations
- Replacement details
A realistic example
A homeowner cracks a floor tile moving furniture and needs a replacement. Home Inventory has the tile logged with the product number and the supplier it came from: a five-minute reorder instead of weeks spent trying to color-match a discontinued style at three different flooring stores.
Why the history matters later
A real inventory means repairs match instead of clash, insurance claims move faster because replacement value is already documented, and a future owner, or the current one, years later, never has to guess what’s behind the walls or under the floor.
