Warranties, receipts, permits and reports, filed by document type and by the system they concern.
How files are organized
Each upload gets a document type and, when it concerns one part of the house, a system category. The water heater’s manual and its warranty both sit under Water Heating. A whole-house permit or an insurance policy can stay general.

Suggested details
After an upload, Astra reads the file and may suggest details for the home record, such as a manufacturer, model number or serial number. Each suggestion shows where it came from.
The owner approves a suggestion, choosing the appliance or system it belongs to, or rejects it. If it disagrees with a value already on the record, both are shown and the owner picks one. Nothing changes on the record until the owner approves it.
Approval means the owner accepted the detail. It does not certify that the document is correct.
When it helps
Three years after a new roof goes on, a stain appears on the attic ceiling. The roof warranty is under Roof & Gutters next to the installer’s invoice, and its dates show whether the leak falls inside the coverage period before anyone calls the roofer.
